Does anybody out there like lamb, because I do!

When I look over research for lamb, consumers keep telling us they are getting fed up with lamb. It’s too bony, too fatty, poorly presented on many occasions and inconsistent

You never know what you’re going to get.

Lamb sales keep falling and its value in the market keeps falling.

But, there is hope.

There is growth in lamb chilled main meal dishes and added value marinated lamb products are bucking the trend for lamb.

The decline in traditional lamb cuts is alarming. Chops are down year on year and roasts are down – but it’s a fantastic product.

Dishes can be prepared with rubs and lamb is great on the barbecue.

Consumers want more flavours and something different – let’s give them the opportunity to discover lamb

500g minced lamb

4 tbsp breadcrumbs

1 whole egg

Salt and pepper

1 tbsp of harissa paste

1 crushed garlic clove

4 tbsp chopped mint

1 tsp chilli flakes

Mix everything together and form as rounds with your hands, flatten them slightly then whack them on the barbecue and serve in a crusty toasted roll.

I think lamb’s fortunes are on the rise and has so much potential to be the next big hitter – trendy, versatile and tasty.
